We are pleased to congratulate our 2016 LaSalle College Jakarta Fashion Design graduate, Kelly Vallerie who won the Harper’s Bazaar Indonesia Asia NewGen Fashion Award (ANFA) 2019 thanks to the design of an Avant-Garde collection with multi-functional fashion features. She successfully showcased her “Freaks” Fall 2019 Collection for the competition, and this collection is inspired by the history of disabled people from freak shows.
Kelly wanted to participate in Harper’s Bazaar ANFA for a long time. Finally, at the end of last year she felt it was the right time to join the competition. The competition represented for her an opportunity to receive valuable lessons, expand her connections in the fashion industry, and further develop her business and brand promotion.
Her "Freaks" Fall 2019 Collection theme featured detailed cuttings, colors and fabrics. It reflected the visuals of "warrior", "strong" and "avant-garde" from the Kelly Vallerie brand. It contained asymmetrical and multifunctional pieces such as an outer with four necklines, two tops combined into one using an elaborate opening system, two pants combined into one and becoming multifunctional pants. “Freaks”, inspired by people with disabilities and striking conditions, consisted of unbalanced details but presented in the form of attractive and versatile designs.
