In 2012 my high school was chosen from all of Canada to take part in the Kizuna Project. The Kizuna Project took place in Japan. 22 students from my school were selected to spend two weeks in Japan learning about their beautiful culture and the natural disasters that had happen a few years prior to our visit. To be considered as a candidate for the Kizuna Exchange you had to demonstrate good people skills, good grades and be a good ambassador. Kizuna means, “Bond”, and that is exactly what we did during out trip. Not only did we bond with one another but we got the chance to bond with the locals whom told us their touching stories, opened up their homes and made friends that would last a life time. We visited cities that were affected by the tsunami and learnt how they worked together to over come the tragedy. This experience really changed my life, it opened my eyes to a culture that has so much history and beauty. The people of Japan have really touched my heart with their kind actions and generosity.
