The Interned

The Interned is my first project in Unreal Engine 5 and my first experience working in a multidisciplinary team as a developer. This horror game, set in an asylum, features roguelite mechanics where players attempt to progress further each night, unlocking new areas and gameplay elements. During the day, they engage in relaxing activities like tending to a garden, which enhances their chances of survival when night falls again. I am developing this game using C++ and Blueprint. While all of the showcased work was done by me due to the short timeframe for my teacher's showcase, I now have a team creating various assets and working on the final game design.

Interactivity

I developed multiple interactive systems to enhance player immersion in The Interned. Players can pick up items that are added to an inventory system inspired by Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. When picking up weapons for defense, they have a set durability, and players can only carry a single defensive item at a time, adding to the tension and decision-making. To further amplify the horror experience, doors don’t simply swing open instead, they initially open just a small crack, allowing players to cautiously peek inside. If the coast is clear, they must physically push the door open using the game’s physics-based interaction system.
