In the context of our final project in media we did a short film called ''Haunted Wonderland.'' My film, ''LOOP,'' is the third section of that larger film (see link below). It has been 100 years since the 1920s, and in that time, late-stage capitalism has caused social alienation. Utilizing a black-and-white, Old Hollywood aesthetic, my claustrophobic short film is set in the Montreal metro. Through abstract cinematic imagery, it questions how we interact with one another as the protagonist attempts to come to terms with modern disconnection. The process of creation involved brainstorming and conceiving of the idea, which included reading about Marxism and alienation. For the negative-space visuals of the character I play in the film, I played with lighting in the studio at my College. Then, I went several times to the Montreal metro to film the movements of the trains and the mass movement of commuters with a Canon camera with a long lens. Finally, I edited the film on Premiere Pro, finding the right music track to go with the visuals and combining them.
