VANCOUVER, BC | 4,135 SF | RESIDENTIAL DESIGN "A House for the Pattersons" is a residential design project. The main objective was to create a welcoming yet cool atmosphere for this young family of two. She is a ceramic artist, so she requires a ceramic studio and he's an accountant that works from home, so a quiet office was another requirement. Some other requirements include a children's double bedroom upstairs for their nephews and a full guest room downstairs. The building is located at 7638 Smithe St. in Vancouver-BC. To feel at home, to belong somewhere! After travelling the whole world to discover new things, this young family was looking for a place to call home. Their passion for museums and art galleries was the biggest inspiration for this project. Surprise elements, artwork, lighting fixtures and unexpected combinations are the soul of this home. Helping my clients understand the concept that whether you're a neutrals loyalist or a colour maximalist, there are plenty of ways to add colour to your home no matter your palette preferences. How can our homes be a translation of how we perceive the world? Why do we need to follow standards? The idea that our home is the most special place on earth was a decisive thought to start this project. Even when used in small doses, bright and bold hues can instantly liven up a space and create a fun, joyful atmosphere. A cool, comfy and full of personality atmosphere with a functional layout and with plenty of space to receive their loved ones are the result of this project.
