For the class of Creative Software August-December 2021, the students needed to create a poster and an e-invite for a fashion exhibition in the McCord Museum.
I named the exhibition: Fashion as a Religion – The Dolce and Gabbana Vision. After a doing research, I took the roads of the Italian culture (from their love for food to the religion) and the luxury. These elements are key for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana when designing and creating their collections. Red and green are colors that are really part of the Italian culture, from the extensive vineyards to the tomato sauce, I included them to depict the customs and traditions that the designers have used as inspiration to create their collections. Also, they are complementary colors, which gives a sense of boldness, same characteristic that represent the dynamic duo of designers. For the poster I decided to do a modular composition. At the center I placed different images of the same collection that compose one body. Then, on the sides, I decided to place 2 different images from different collections cut in three different pieces. In front of first block, the title of the exhibition overlaps with bold letters in green and I placed a transparent square to highlight. To give a little bit of air to the design, I made the second module thinner.
For the e-invite, the middle module was placed, just as a reference of what people will see on the poster and to give opportunity to observe every detail worked in each garment.
