Cherry Blossom- Mother of Mycelium

A one-of-a-kind hat. "Decay existing as an extant form of life makes way through the cycles of life." With the crazy, you can learn to appreciate the combination of beauty and power no matter the “decay existing as an extant form of life.” This impossibly large hat holds onto the idea of fantasy and escapism as a mushroom. This idea of a mushroom hat was also appearing on social media making it something new and intriguing to dive into. The colour of ‘Cherry Blossom’ Pantone TPX 14-2311 is the colour of femininity and softness. It is one of the few colours that relate to the new style trend of 2022 and it works well with the idea of a Fae. This allowed me to spiral down the rabbit hole of wanting something crazy like a floral hat with the incorporation of cherry blossom flowers upon it. It began to combine with the idea brewing in my head; a bright pink colour is a form of blooming with the powers of both the mushrooms and cherry blossoms, bringing sweetness to the decay the pandemic has caused. I wanted to empower a goddess in hat form, power and serenity in one. Like a mother for the mushrooms grown from mycelium with an encapsulating veil to wrap around, holding everything. It is the representation of embracing the pandemic of chaos and rebirth of a new way and art of living. The idea of a mushroom hat is the methodical idea of hallucinating the times between meeting the mother of the mycelium and making its way through the cycle once more.
