Private Label Management - LOOLATA
A group project done in Private Label Management class with Ms. Cempaka Pansatya as the lecturer. The group consists of Ervina Salim, Ghea Zharinna Pratiwi, and Salsabil Zhafira.
ABOUT THE BRAND
Headwear is not only functional, but a fashionable accessory that characterizes you. However, based on what we have found, locally, there is a large gap between hat makers and tailors such as for apparels. This makes local hat makers quite rare, resulting in a small number of brands that sell hats as their main products. Hence, LOOLATA is here to break down that small number by providing quality designed hats that are thoughtfully designed for each individual customer. Using an innovative and experimental approach, our products can be distinguished through its signature quilted texture that are designed to be casual making it suitable for various occasions. But, Why? Quilts? So generally a quilt has 3 layers which includes the pierced top, an insulating fabric and the backing fabric. But is usually seen only as two layers. Thus, inspiring the name LOOLATA. The word LOOLATA originates from the Samoan word “lua tala” meaning “two tales” in English, which represents the two layers a quilt has. Just like how an individual has their inner and outer layers. LOOLATA’s main focus is to spread love and not hate. As one of our missions, we strive to make our brand and store a friendly community and ensure our customers feel loved and accepted by being just who they are. We would like to encourage them to show their inner layer through our hats.
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
The inspiration behind LOOLATA's first collection came from the place we are living in. The Earth. Just like us individuals, the Earth has two sides as well. The dark and the bright. Day and night. In every darkness, there will always be light, as it won't always be night. Hence, inspired by that, the color palette for this collection ranges from dark to light, just like the variation colors a sun set and a sun rise produce. With this first collection, LOOLATA aims to introduce the brand's main concept and philosophies regarding the duality of things that makes us whole. In this matter, the duality of self. Which consists of 5 aspects; the spirit, mind, body, social, and soul that are represented in each of our hats.
