Dolce & Gabbana launched their Alta Moda collection on April 18th last, in Mexico City. It is the first time Mexico is host of a fashion event of one of the currently most renowned firms on international scale. Mexican culture inspired the 2 designers to create a collection that combined its representative elements, with their unmistakable appliance of Baroque style. Naturally, Frida Kahlo’s influence couldn’t be missed, as an icon of the Mexican woman; hairstyles with flowery ornaments immediately reminded us of this great artist. It was with no doubt a show that moved the spirits of fashion industry, as much as for the curiosity provoked by the collection, as for the decision of the location (Mexico); this runway was another proof that Mexico has gained ground in competitive fashion world.
