On September 8, 2014, LaSalle College Vancouver (LCV) will officially welcome students to its new Yaletown campus, located at 101 Smithe Street. Housed in a five-storey, 1900’s heritage building, the beautiful space was built to reflect the creative nature of the diplomas offered; the high educational standard; quality instruction; and the LaSalle College International (LCI) network’s global Canadian education project. Every aspect of the new campus- including class sizes, work and study spaces, specialized equipment, wall colors and furniture- was designed to allow the creative juices of students to flourish. The new campus, offering Diploma programs in fashion and design, increases capacity from 100 to 400 students, and heralds a new era for the educator.
“Students have really responded to the new campus. They are all eager to start class in our beautiful new environment, which has been designed to enhance creativity, collaboration and learning,” says Diego Do Livramento, Campus Director, LaSalle College Vancouver.
LCV is a member of the LCI Education network, composed of 21 campuses in 11 countries, offering high-quality post-secondary education in Vancouver for over 10 years. Among the many advantages, students are able to enjoy opportunities to study abroad from one week to one semester at a selection of the network’s campuses, including Montreal, Bogota, Istanbul, Jakarta and Barcelona.
“The LCI network has made this strong investment in Vancouver because the city perfectly reflects the values of our network’s campuses- urban, dynamic and diverse,” says Jacques Marchand, President of LaSalle College International. “Our Vancouver campus will act as our educational network’s Pacific gateway to Asia and Australia, helping us to attract an increasingly international student body.’’
“The private career training sector is an important and vital part of British Columbia’s post-secondary system,” said Advanced Education Minister Amrik Virk. “Institutions such as LaSalle College provide training over a broad range of exciting and rewarding skills for British Columbians as well as attracting international students to the province. My best wishes to the students, faculty and staff on the opening of LaSalle College’s new Yaletown campus.”
"LaSalle College is a world-class institution that offers a unique educational experience,” said Sam Sullivan, MLA for Vancouver-False Creek. “I am very excited to see the new campus open in Yaletown at a location where not only will it be easily accessible by public transportation, but also where the student’s can truly enjoy Vancouver’s distinct and dynamic culture."
