Academy of Design Australia and LCI Education Network Invests in New Collingwood Campus

The Academy of Design Australia is delighted to announce details of its new campus, the iconic Foy & Gibson building located at 150 Oxford Street, Collingwood.  This new campus will provide a great opportunity for Academy students to be in one of the most vibrant art and design precincts in Melbourne. The city fringe location is only 1.5km from Melbourne’s CBD which will prove very convenient for students to access public transport.

The Oxford Street property, purchased by LCI Education will benefit from further substantial investment in renovations, making the campus a centrepiece of architectural and educational excellence in the region.

We all know the powerful affect that architecture and interior design has on creativity. We are very excited to have a new home in Collingwood, in a campus designed by creative people for creative people. Gray Puksand Architects understand the design decisions that need to be made to encourage students to be brave young designers.  Their experience designing educational spaces combined with the acquired knowledge of the LCI Education network will make the Academy’s next home the place to study design in Australia.” - newly appointed Campus Director, Amber Treseder Fitts.

The new campus will house an onsite gallery providing opportunities for students and staff to exhibit and promote their work to the local creative community that includes top art galleries, fashion houses and architectural interior design businesses.  All Academy students complete professional placement units as part of their degree benefit so having so many creative businesses and networking opportunities in the immediate vicinity will provide many them with many benefits. It is envisaged that the first classes will commence in the building mid-2016.
