Plumeria

Having lost members of my family who I had yet to bond with left me very lost and confused so I wanted to make clothes that could comfort those who wear them after the loss of a mentor. The most upsetting loss for me was that of my uncle. He was the only one I could have related to in terms of sexual orientation and so I wanted to dedicate this collection mostly to him and to the guidance he will never be able to impart. Inspired by our family name, Flowerday, I looked to flowers and plants for inspiration and tried to revive the language of floriography by picking flowers that convey my story. Through my research I grew attached to the plumeria frangipani and the ginkgo leaf and what they represent. Ginkgo: health, prosperity, longevity, hope, and peace Plumeria: forbidden love, spirituality and immortality, death and grieving,
female beauty.
