Sunrise is a Calm experience in VR designed and developed for "Liminal VR" (A company that develops amazing immersive experiences that are carefully designed to induce a wide range of emotional and cognitive states). We collaborated as team “Cake” (Chucho, Adam, Karlo and Elena). Each of us contributing with specific features for the experience: Chucho (Jesus) working on the Main Level Design (Environmental Art) and the main soundtrack of the experience named "Limbo", which was designed to be calming and relaxing; Adam Lau, in charge of supervising the graphics and the technical art, as well as contributing with scripting; Karlo Torres who assisted with game design, animations and environment art; and Elena Buitrago who contributed with the experience concept design, lights scripting, animation and particle effects.
The terrain construction centered on designing a lonely island in the middle of the sea, this landscape is a terrain sculpted using tools of the Unity engine until achieving the desired shape.
The Main objective of the experience is to relax the user's mind and body enjoying the colors of the sky, hear music, the sounds of the water and the wind while the sun rises on the seashore and you contemplate the Sunrise. Sounds created and added by Chucho (Jesus) Sunrise animated and scripted by Elena Particle effects added by Elena Water animations, graphics check and polish by Adam. This level showcases realistic materials matching with the environment and the nature of the Island.
The Level Design area is intended to be a place with a Subtropical environment. according to this ecosystems, it was very important set the right plants, trees, palms and coconuts there. Chucho (Jesus) and Karlo's main tasks.
