Dreamscape is a series of 3 dust jackets for books that cover topics and studies related to dreams & nightmares. The design choice for this project utilizes the positive and negative space to make a simple illustration that represents the inside of a brain & human psyche when having a dream in a flat vector style. To achieve this, a brain illustration that looks like a dream cloud is created and given a lighter color inside of it compared to the overall dark background to make it more eye-catching. Then the dark background bleeds into the inside of the brain to illustrate how various stages or aspects of dreaming looks like if it were simplified. The cover tells a sort of a story of how in “Into the Sleep” the person just fell asleep as he is drowning deeper and deeper into his dream realm. Then “The Dark Visitor” shows imagery of monsters and creepy hands reaching out from the bleeding darkness symbolizing nightmares. Finally, in “Reshaping Dreams” the person finally flies away from the nightmares as he soars to the sky with his wings.
