Rebecca Minkoff - A Commercial Design Project

The objective of this commercial design project was to create a new international location for a fashion retailer that encapsulated the brand’s identity, while bringing a fresh design sensibility. I chose Rebecca Minkoff as the fashion brand with a proposed new location in Sydney, Australia’s Haymarket District. Rebecca Minkoff’s fashion aesthetic is urban, professional with a quirky playful edge. She has two US locations – one in LA, one in her home city of New York, and eight international locations, the majority or which are in Asia. The design concept is inspired by Rebecca Minkoff’s signature studded leather bags and jackets. The design concept uses the qualities of a leather stud to add an edge to a professional urban environment: the geometric shape of a stud, its reflective qualities, repeating patterns, and linear alignment, provide inspiration for the architectural details of the space. A feature installation of 3D rhomboidal structure ats as a feature installation to draw in Sydney Urbanites. Moreover, dynamic pendant installations, vertical wood detailing, terrazzo flooring, and bold stone choices, bring to life the edgy feminine style while not overshadowing the products.
