Asian forms of writing have traditionally been performed by brush. This is usually done with black ink on white paper, and the calligraphy can be incredibly stylized to the point where Asian cultures consider it a form of art. To capture the black and white background that was chosen, heavy brush styles were used aesthetically. The background provides contrasts as well as the stylistic nature of the East Asian nations that practice calligraphy. This is demonstrated through the splashes of ink on the countries themselves.
