Born in South Central Siberia, Russia, Uliana Poryvay is now based in Toronto, Ontario. She graduated from high school in Minusinsk, Siberia and received a DEC in Arts, Literature and Communication (Culture and Media option) in 2021 from LaSalle College. During her time at LaSalle, she created multiple digital artworks and video reports, and curated two cultural events: What's Your Magic (video production, Instagram Live) and Homebound: Winter in Panama, Summer in Russia (documentary, YouTube Live). Back in Siberia, Poryvay organised two poetry soirees — I am going to read my poems (2018) and Exile (2019) — where she participated as a poet herself, and took part in the yearly poetic event "Pushkiniana." She has practised her skills as a digital content creator on multiple Instagram accounts, such as @vitaminart_alc (10/23/2020 - 12/03/2020), @tangled.media (03/25/2021 - 05/01/2021), and @poryvay.club (11/25/2020 - Present). Recently, Uliana Poryvay has been writing on her blog "How to commit poetic escape" on the theme of poetry, while improving her photography skills in both digital and film formats. Uliana is adept with Adobe Premiere Pro, with which she likes to shoot and edit video materials.
