Biography

I am Luana Cavalcanti Mendes. I was born and raised in a small city in the Northeast of Brazil. My professional career starts in 2007 when I applied for the nautical science academy. During the program, I had the chance to learn the principles and operational duties of a Deck Watch Officer. In the first year of the program, as a cadet, I had the chance to go onboard a bulk carrier from the Maersk line and navigate on the Amazonas River and this was just the beginning of an enriching experience that I had navigating around South America East Coast. In 2010, after concluding my one-year training, I started working as Marine Officer in different types of vessels and offshore units and travel the world. Even though successful in my 7 years onboard, my passion for travelling brought me to Canada where I am currently pursuing my second post-secondary education in Business Management with a previous Bacharel in Nautical Science. I am in my final semester in Business Management seeking an internship to merge my operational background in marine transportation with the business skill that I am learning to improve logistics and intermodal transportation in Quebec.
